This one was a full build - no shortcuts. The homeowners had an incredible lakeside property and wanted a backyard feature that could actually hold its own against that view. That's a tough brief. A putting green that looks like an afterthought just doesn't cut it on a property like this.
We started from scratch. Site prep, precision grading, shock pad installation, and then the synthetic turf itself - every layer matters when you want a green that actually performs. The shock pad isn't just about feel underfoot. It protects the turf long-term and gives the surface a consistent, true roll that you'd expect from a real course. That's the difference between a decorative lawn feature and something you actually want to putt on every day.
Once the green was set, we built the landscaping around it to tie everything together. The white limestone border and the flowing organic shape of the rock bed give the whole space a clean, finished look without making it feel stiff or over-designed. Flagstone steppers carry you through the space naturally. The plantings - ornamental grasses, rounded shrubs, and manicured evergreens - were chosen to complement the aesthetic without competing with the green itself.
What we ended up with is a backyard space that functions as both a practice facility and a genuine outdoor retreat. No mowing the green, no bare patches, no fussing with maintenance. The artificial turf holds up season after season and keeps its color and performance regardless of foot traffic or weather. That's a big deal on a lakefront property where you actually want to be outside and using the space.
The personalized "19th Hole" sign is a nice touch too - it tells you everything about how this family plans to use it. This kind of build is what happens when every detail gets thought through, from the base layers nobody sees to the finishing touches that make the whole thing feel like it belongs.
