A yard that holds water where it shouldn't is more than just an eyesore. It can damage your foundation, kill your grass, and make the space basically unusable after any decent rain. That was the situation here - low spots scattered throughout, poor grading around the house, and rough areas that weren't draining the way they needed to.

Here's what we were working with: uneven ground that had clearly been collecting water for a long time, plus sections of lawn that were too far gone to just overseed and hope for the best. So we didn't cut corners. We stripped out the problem areas, brought in fresh soil, and regraded around the house to get water moving away from the foundation the way it should be. The Bobcat made short work of moving material and shaping the grade cleanly across a pretty wide area.

After the grading was dialed in, we went back through the whole yard and leveled the low spots - those scattered patches that tend to collect puddles and stay soft long after a rain. Once everything was smooth and properly pitched, we seeded the bare areas and covered them with straw to hold moisture and protect the seed while it establishes. That's not an optional step - skip the straw and you're gambling on germination. We don't do that.

This is the kind of work that falls under both lawn renovation and lawn care. It's not just about making a yard look good right now - it's about setting it up to drain correctly, grow in evenly, and actually hold up over time. A properly graded yard with healthy grass coverage is significantly easier to maintain long-term, and it protects the home itself from water-related issues near the foundation.

Soggy spots and uneven ground don't fix themselves. If your yard stays wet after rain or you've got low areas that never seem to dry out, that's a grading problem - and it's very fixable. We do this kind of lawn renovation work regularly and know exactly what it takes to get a yard draining and growing right again.
